At Peck Family Dentistry our main goal is to help you preserve your natural teeth, however if that is not possible a removable denture is an option at the last resort. Losing our teeth from trauma, gum disease, or tooth decay is a delicate subject matter for many and most don’t like to admit that they wear a denture or may be in need of one. Many people with dentures hate to confess that in reality they are unhappy with them.
If you are in need of dentures, we will offer you dentures made out of a high quality material that look as natural as possible and fit securely. Dr. Hillary Peck wants you to be satisfied with your dentures so you play a major role in how you want your new smile to look.
Quality Removable Dentures
If you are missing all your teeth, the most comfortable and functional option is to use dental implants to anchor your dentures. For these options, please see the paragraphs about overdentures and mini implants on the right. If those procedures aren’t in your budget, Dr. Peck can make you a set of quality dentures that will have excellent fit and look so natural, no one will no know they’re not your own teeth.
When you see advertisements for cheap dentures, know that the dentists will use short-cuts to reduce their expenses while maintaining a high profit margin for themselves. Here at Peck Family Dentistry, we don’t use those short-cuts. Instead we provide a quality service for an affordable fee. Every set is custom made to fit snugly and comfortably. A wax try-in will be made so that you can try in the actual teeth before they are permanently processed, and they won’t be sent to the laboratory for processing until you are happy with how they look. And when it is processed, we will use quality, durable materials.
Overdentures
A complete denture is when all your teeth are removed and this causes your jawbone to shirk. An overdenture is when some of your teeth roots can be preserved, greatly reducing the bone resorption in your jaw. An overdenture is anchored to roots stabilizing the denture from mobility. Teeth that are saved are prepared to fit under the overdenture and most of the time undergo root canal treatment so they are not too sensitive to the shaping process and are usually covered with metal castings that fit into the overdenture.
Mini Implant Dentures
Having a denture placed with mini implants solves the typical problems people have with dentures. Relief from loose or poor fitting dentures is taken away with mini implant dentures.
Traditional dentures rest on the gums and at times adhesives are needed to keep them in place. Mini implant dentures are anchored to multiple mini implants that are placed the jawbone providing more stability and comfort allowing you to eat almost anything you want as well as speaking confidently. For the best stability of mini implant dentures the placement of six mini implants for the upper arch is recommended and four mini implants for a lower denture.
Even if you already have a denture that is comfortable and prefer not to get a new one, we have the ability to adapt your current dentures to fit over mini dental implants to help you with stability and comfort.
